Alyas' First Date

Alyas had his first date today! The lucky girl's was Delaney. Delaney and her Mom and Dad live down the street from us and go to our church. Delaney was born about 3 weeks before Alyas. Alyas and Delaney have actually hung out before when they were about 3 months old or so, but Delaney's Mom (Joy) and I told them they were too young to date...they would have to wait till at least 6 months!

Here they were trying to hold hands, but just not having the motor skills to pull it off.

Here's Delaney now! She's 8 months old and already crawling and pulling up to stand. Here she is waiting at the door for Alyas. She put on her prettiest pink bow for the occasion.

Delaney showed off by crawling all over the place. Alyas couldn't do much more than sit and flop around on the ground, but he sure was entertained watching her!

Here she is showing him how to stand and play with "Big Kid" toys. He watches intently from the floor in amazement.

Despite the fact that Alyas couldn't move around, his heart was turning in summer salts while Delaney crawled in circles around him. In this picture you can see his eyes saying, "Mom, look how pretty she is!"

In the humblest way possible Alyas was bold enough to ask her to be his girlfriend, but Delaney, like a proper lady, was quite modest in responding to his proposal (he's really just chewing on her shoe!).

To help his self esteem, we helped Alyas to "stand" next to her in the exa-saucer.

They had quite a fun time playing together, but by the end of the day they decided just to remain friends for the time being. I think they realized they had a few more milestones to accomplish before they could really consider a long term relationship.

At the end of their "date" Delaney even danced for Alyas. Maybe some day when he's able to stand they will actually dance together! Enjoy!
